Bangalore CBI gets custody of Janardhan Reddy till March 12

The former Tourism Minister and Bellary mining baron G. Janardhan Reddy was remanded in CBI police custody till March 12 by a special CBI court here on Friday. The Karnataka CBI had sought his custody in connection with the illegal activities of two of Reddy firms — Associated Mining Company and Deccan Mining Syndicate.Mr. Reddy and 20 others, including his wife Aruna, are named in the FIR that was registered by the CBI in October 2011.

Earlier, Mr. Reddy was brought into the city by the Andhra Pradesh Police and handed over to the Bangalore City police at the Ulsoor Gate Police Station early on Friday morning.

The former Minister was allowed to get some sleep and freshen up before being produced at the CBI court amid tight security.
