A traffic constable was allegedly assaulted and abused by an unruly motorcycle rider who was stopped for violating traffic rules, at Thubarahalli Junction in Whitefield on Sunday. According to the police, the motorist also enlisted the help of his friend in the attack.

In his complaint, Constable Avinash said that he was on duty at the junction when he saw the man riding his bike in a rash and negligent manner. When he stopped the biker, he was allegedly abused.

When Avinash warned of legal action, the biker allegedly attacked him. “He even asked his friend to join him and threatened to run over him,” said the police, who are trying to trace the owner using the registration number.

This is not the first time that traffic constables have been attacked in the line of duty. Recently a constable was shoved to the ground after he pulled up a man for smoking in public.
