Objecting to people smoking outside his house cost a man his life. A gang of armed men hacked a 32-year-old civil contractor to death in Ashoknagar in the wee hours on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Harish. The Ashoknagar police, who have taken up the case, said that Harish was disturbed by commotion being created by a gang of men who were standing outside his house and smoking. He took objection to this and an argument between Harish and the gang ensued. Things took an ugly turn when the gang, who had left the place, returned with lethal weapons and attacked him.

Harish, who was profusely bleeding following the attack, was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

The Ashoknagar police are now trying to track the accused.
