Ambient monitoring not in place yet

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has issued an advisory to implement ambient air quality management system in Bengaluru city, through which air quality at industries can be monitored online.

After initially increasing the consent period to five years, the KSPCB had said that under the new system, a constant monitoring would be put in place. This was the board’s argument to justify decision to increase the consent period to five years. However, Mohan Kondajji, a member of the board, said the system would take many months to be implemented and was also not reliable for industries.
