Actor questioned over alleged threat to distributor

Kannada cine actor ‘Duniya’ Vijay was questioned by the Central Crime Bureau for allegedly threatening a film distributor. According to the complaint filed by Jayanna – who is also a film director – on Saturday, Mr. Vijay had threatened to assault him as well as attack Kapali theatre, which is being leased by the distributor for the release of the Upendra-starrer ‘Shivam’.

Mr. Vijay was apparently upset that his upcoming film, ‘Jackson’, could not be screened at the iconic theatre in Gandhinagar. Soon after the complaint was lodged, the CCB police had summoned the actor for questioning.

During the nearly one-hour questioning on Monday, Mr. Vijay was reported as having denied the allegations, but conceded that there were differences over the screening of his film in Kapali theatre. He expressed surprise that a criminal case had been filed instead of the issue being resolved by people within the film industry, said the police.

Boy kills self

A 15-year-old boy allegedly hanged himself at his house at Vinayakanagar on Monday while his parents were away at work, said the Kamakshipalya police.

A note found in the room says he had taken the decision to end his life and that no one was to be blamed for his death, said the police.

The boy’s father is a driver and mother is a garment worker. Family members said that he was average in academics, said the police.
