Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Abdul Nasser Maudany, who was being treated at a private hospital in Bengaluru, left for Thiruvananthapuram on Monday to meet his ailing mother hospitalised at a private hospital.
Mr. Maudany who is presently out on conditional bail, had sought the permission from Supreme Court to visit his ailing mother in his home-state. Karnataka High Court, while granting him bail in July 2014 on medical grounds, had laid down a condition that he would not leave the city and keep the city police informed of his whereabouts.
Supreme Court on Friday allowed a petition filed by Mr. Maudany and allowed him to visit his ailing mother in Thiruvananthapuram for five days. Mr. Maudany travelled by Road to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and from there flew to Thiruvananthapuram at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
City police have provided no security to Mr. Maudany as he is presently out on bail and a free man. However, a Senior Official said that they had informed their Kerala counterparts and Mr. Maudany was under round-the-clock watch by intelligence agencies.
