January 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - Bengaluru:

The State government has said Aadhar number is not mandatory for transfer of LPG subsidy but is “advisable”. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said people can get their bank accounts linked to the respective agencies before March 31.

Only 53 per cent of consumers have linked their Aadhar numbers and 41 per cent have linked their bank accounts. “Nearly 13 per cent of consumers have linked both Aaadhar and bank accounts,” the Minister told presspersons after attending a meeting with the LPG distributors.
