The State government has said Aadhar number is not mandatory for transfer of LPG subsidy but is “advisable”.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said people can get their bank accounts linked to the respective agencies before March 31.
Only 53 per cent of consumers have linked their Aadhar numbers and 41 per cent have linked bank accounts. “Nearly 13 per cent have linked both Aaadhar and bank accounts,” he said.
Addressing presspersons after a meeting with LPG distributors and representatives from oil companies, the Minister said they had been asked to ensure that the process is made hassle free for consumers.
