UNESCO award for Yeddyurappa's daughter

S.Y. Aruna Devi, daughter of Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and director, Jan Sikshan Samsthan, Shimoga district, was among the recipients of NLM-UNESCO awards given in Hyderabad on Wednesday during a function organised to celebrate International Literacy Day.

The awards were given away by Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development D. Purandeswari and Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan. The State Resources Centre for Adult and Continuing Education, Andhra Pradesh, Jan Sikshan Samsthan, Cuttack, and Jan Sikshan Samsthan, Guntur, also received NLM-UNESCO awards.

On behalf of the State Resources Centre, its chairman G. Ramesh and director P.V. Subba Reddy received the award.

Principal Secretary, Education, Chandana Khan, and P. Janardhan Reddy, Director, Adult Education, received another award given to the State government.
