Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials came across a strange case of inflated bills on Monday when they found that saplings had been purchased at ₹ 2,500 in a few parks in the city.
Mayor G. Padmavathy instructed the BBMP Special Commissioner (Horticulture) to investigate and submit a report on the irregularities in development work taken up by the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Ltd. (KRIDL) in the parks.
The mayor visited Nandanvan Park and Basavana Park in Agrahara Dasarahalli ward (ward no.105). She noticed that saplings were purchased for ₹ 2,500 each and an additional amount was spent on planting them.
Thereafter, she visited the park in Malagala Lake bed in Kaveripura (ward no. 103) where she found that work on fencing had not been completed.
