The police arrested three men in connection with the rape of a student nurse in Ashok Nagar police station limits on Sunday.
The suspects are Srikant (24), Vimod (25), both from Alappuzha in Kerala, and Nitin M. Verghese (25) from Dandupalya, Hoskote.
Police said special police traced the suspects to Kerala from where they were arrested.
According to the 19-year-old nurses’s complaint, the suspects stopped their vehicle around 8.50 a.m. at the bus-stand near St. Philomena’s Hospital to ask her for directions and dragged her in. She was then taken to a house where she was gang raped by them. She was later rescued by a woman.
However, in a contradiction to her statement, the police said the victim was well acquainted with the three.
While Srikant works in a mobile service provider company, Vimod is a nurse and Nitin works for a private firm here.
Police said the victim was taken in Nitin’s car to his house in Dandupalya where she was attacked by all the three.
In yet another contradiction, while the victim said she was taken to St. John’s Hospital by a woman from the house, the police said the suspects themselves had taken her to hospital.
However, police said the three took advantage of her familiarity with them, took her to Nitin’s house and raped her. They also robbed her of a gold ring and her money.
Police sources said the victim may also file an affidavit explaining in detail what had happened.
Other victim critical
Meanwhile, the Anekal rape victim, who has not been identified, continues to be critical.
The woman, in her mid-20s, was found unconscious on the roadside by the public on Wednesday.
A doctor at Victoria Hospital here said: “She had strangulation marks on her neck and multiple injuries on her body.”
Visiting card found
The Anekal police found the visiting card of a mobile phone service shop in Peenya, which has remained shut since the past two days. The building owner is also not in town and the police are waiting for him to return to establish the relationship between the shop owner and the victim.
The Anekal police, who also got a receipt of the BMIC ring road toll for a two-wheeler, suspect that the victim may have accompanied someone.
“We are trying to get the CCTV footage. We have already obtained the CCTV grab of the man who got her to hospital and are trying to identify him,” the police said.
