One year is too little time, says Nataraj

April 14, 2011 04:58 pm | Updated 04:58 pm IST - BANGALORE:

One year is too little time, said Mayor S.K. Nataraj, whose tenure ends this month. “It is a short span and does not help the Mayor in bringing about effective changes. I hope the Government will increase the tenure so that substantial development can be achieved,” he said.

Mr. Nataraj, who spoke after flagging off a series of development works in his ward Sarakki here on Wednesday, said he would continue to work as any other councillor once his term as Mayor of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike ends.

Among the various projects in the pipeline in Jayanagar constituency are the construction of a multipurpose building and an indoor stadium. Jayanagar MLA B. N. Vijay Kumar said the sanitation system in the constituency would be improved and rain water harvesting would also be inculcated widely.
