Muniyappa lays foundation stone for road underpass

April 30, 2011 02:34 pm | Updated 02:46 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa has laid the foundation stone for an underpass connecting the West Residential Colony of the Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) and the factory on the other side across the Yelahanka-Doddaballapur Highway.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone on Thursday, Mr. Muniyappa said the factory has grown tremendously within a short span of 25 years. He noted that the RWF not only exceeded its targets but also has won many accolades. He expressed happiness over the RWF's efforts towards indigenisation of production and innovation drive.

He said the underpass will help employees of RWF in their daily commuting from colony to factory and back for the residents of the colony. West colony and the plant are located on either side of the very busy Yelahanka-Doddaballapur main road, making it difficult for employees to commute between colony and place of work. The work will be taken up at a cost of Rs. 3.5 crore, he said.

RWF General Manager R.K. Upadhyay and other officials were present.
