September 25, 2010 03:30 pm | Updated 03:30 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Action has been taken against senior personnel responsible for the accident that took place at Yeshwanthpur Metro Station on Thursday when a concrete girder came crashing down from a pair of piers.

Culpability

In a press statement, N. Sivasailam, Managing Director, Namma Metro, said Bangalore Metro and L&T, which are executing the work on the station, had assessed the culpability and taken action against a dozen senior personnel. The accident was blamed on fastening not held in place, which resulted in the 35-tonne, U-shaped concrete block crashing to the ground. No one was injured.
