It was time for lights, camera, and action as cameras and their accessories were displayed at the Photo Today 2010, a three-day exhibition which commenced at Palace Grounds on Friday.
With new data emerging that close to 750 pictures are uploaded on social networking sites every second, there were as many as 200 stalls housing a wide variety of equipment ranging from underwater video cameras to equipment used to create effects and custom-made albums to cater to the craze of capturing even the most inane moments on camera.
‘Save Water'
A ‘Save Water' campaign was launched by Minister for IT&BT and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board Katta Subramanya Naidu along with Home Minister V.S. Acharya by unveiling its logo.
Photographers can take pictures of the logo, attach a caption and the entries will be sent to the Chief Minister.
Akhila Karnataka Video and Photographers' Association vice-president Ramakrishna N. said the main objective of the campaign was to create awareness about the issue. A photography competition is also part of the exhibition and the best works could win cash prizes from Rs. 500 to Rs. 3,000.
New products
Many top names in the industry used the opportunity to launch some unique products. Kodak enticed adventure enthusiasts by launching the pocket-sized Kodak Playsport video camera, ideal while scuba diving as it is waterproof up to 10 feet. Priced at Rs. 7,999, it has an expandable slot for memory cards up to 32 GB, has a one-and-a-half-hour battery backup.
Photo Today 2010 is on till July 11 at Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds. Entry is free for professional photographers, while it is Rs. 45 for the public.
