Karnataka government plans to take up a new project in coming fiscal on a public-private-partnership model for making registration services pertaining to purchase and sale of properties more citizen-centric and to enable inter-operability between related departments.
The project, ‘Kaveri’, would facilitate issue of certified copies and encumbrance certificates, among others, through Bangalore One, Karnataka One and “Nemmadi Kendras” (government-run centres offering various services including payment of bills) and web portal, to the general public.
The project aims to reduce average time taken for document registration from the present 30 minutes to 10 minutes, and would provide access to the general public to information on the registration of properties, marriages, e-stamp sales and public grievance redress, among others, through the web.
It would facilitate exchange of information, electronically, among related departments such as “Bhoomi”, treasury, urban local bodies, income tax department and accountant general office, among others, according to the Medium Term Fiscal Plan (MTFP) 2010-2014 tabled in the ongoing session of the Karnataka Assembly.
