The Karnataka High Court on Thursday reserved its order for tomorrow on a bail plea by self-styled godman Nityananda Swami, arrested on criminal charges, including rape.
The investigation into the case was complete and since there was no material on record, they did not require Nityananda’s custody, Public Prosecutor Satish R. Girji said when the case came up before Justice Subhash B Adi.
The judge then reserved orders on the bail plea for tomorrow.
The Court had yesterday adjourned the hearing of the writ petition seeking quashing of two FIRs filed against Nityananda to June 24.
Nityananda, whose judicial custody was extended to June 23, landed in controversy in March after a local TV channels aired purported video footage showing him in a compromising position with a Tamil actress. He was arrested from Solan in Himachal Pradesh on April 21.
