A fire broke out in the Karnataka State Cricket Association clubhouse in the wee hours here on Tuesday destroying documents, among other things, fire officials said.

“There were no casualties, but old documents and furniture were gutted in the fire,” they said.

Four fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire in about an hour, the officials said.

The fire could have occurred because of a short-circuit, however, the exact cause is still being ascertained, they said.

A series of fire accidents have occurred in the country’s IT hub over the past few months.

On April 12, a bar and restaurant on the terrace of a three-storey commercial building was gutted in a fire in the busy Residency Road, however, there was no casualty. A fire tragedy at the Carlton Towers on February 23 claimed nine lives and injured many others.
