Court intervenes again in housing society case

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed a private house building cooperative society to allot house sites as per the seniority of its members.

The court passed the order on an appeal by the Vishwabharathi House Building Cooperative Society represented by its founder and president B. Krishna Bhat.

The court asked the society to allot sites to it members as per their membership date. It also asked the society to publish the list of members.

In a related case, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J.S. Khehar and Justice A.S. Bopanna directed the society to comply with the order of a single judge directing it to follow norms while allotting sites

Some members of the Vishwabharathi society had filed a contempt plea after the society failed to follow court orders.
