A couple was booked for allegedly assaulting a traffic policeman late on Tuesday night by the Commercial Street police.

The couple has been identified as Jesse, a Chinese national, and her husband Prashanth. According to the police, the couple, who were both wearing helmets, were returning home in an inebriated condition on a two-wheeler. Prashanth, who was riding, lost control and the couple fell off the vehicle at B.R.V. Junction on Cubbon Road. When a traffic policeman attached to Shivajinagar Traffic Police Station rushed to help them, Jesse reportedly started creating a ruckus and abused the cop.

Sensing trouble, the traffic policeman alerted the control room, following which a patrolling vehicle rushed to the spot. The couple was taken to Commercial Street police station for inquiry.

The police, who found that both Prashanth and Jesse were inebriated, have booked him for drunk driving and her for assaulting a policeman on duty and creating a nuisance.
