Counting of votes today

D-Day has arrived. On Monday, citizens will know who will represent them in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council.

Counting of votes is expected to begin at 8 a.m. and officials of the State Election Commission (SEC) are hoping that the results of at least 50 of the 198 wards are declared by 9 a.m.

The votes will be counted at 28 centres across the city. Counting will begin at 8 a.m. at 27 centres while the counting process at one centre — Maria Niketan High School — will be taken up at 2.30 p.m.

According to sources in the SEC, 2,500 election staff and an additional 500 have been posted for counting.

The sources said EVMs used for voting will be kept on 14 tables.

The 28 counting centres are Sri Jnanakshi Vidyanikethan, Manipal Hospital Road, RR Nagar; Government RC College, Race Course Road; Maharani College for Women, Seshadri Road; Directorate of Physical Education, behind Freedom Park, Gandhinagar; MEI Polytechnic, Rajajinagar; BBMP Degree College, Chamarajpet; BMS Women's College, Basavanagudi; B.R. Ambedkar Stadium, Basaveshwaranagar; Smt. Parimala Baimane BBMP High School, Vidyaranyanagar, Magadi Road Toll Gate; PES College, Srinagar; KIMS Medical College, BSK 2{+n}{+d} Stage; Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Koramangala; BES College, Jayanagar 4{+t}{+h} Block; JSS Public School and Women's College, HSR Layout; ITI Centre, Dooravani Nagar; Sri Jagadjyothi Basaveshwarsa High School, near Nandini cinema; BBMP Boys and Girls High School, Kodanadaramapura; KVA and FSU, UAS campus; Lal Bahadur Shastri PU College, Sultanpalya; Maria Niketan High School, Cooke Town; St. Germain High School, Fraser Town; Sambram Engineering College, Hessarghatta Road; Karnataka Education Trust, Heggadenagar Main Road; MES Kishor Centre, Vidyaranyapura; RV Engineering College, Mysore Road; Sri Ranga Vidya Niketan, Dasarahalli; New Horizon College of Engineering, Panathur Post; and JSS Mahavidya Peetha, HSR Layout.
