Coping with the third eye

Many institutions are finding a middle path to help students live amidst CCTV cameras.

For instance, at Azim Premji University, authorities were in a dilemma on whether to install CCTV cameras in the hostel area, following thefts reported by students.

“We were concerned about our privacy and did not want someone monitoring our activities in the hostel. So, we have a policy where CCTV footage is accessed

only if a theft is reported. Also, one student and a staff member view the footage together if the need arises,” said a first year B.A. student of Azim Premji University.
