Biker killed in accident

A biker, who was not wearing a helmet was killed, when an unknown vehicle rammed into his motorcycle at Siddapura junction on Hosur road early on Thursday.

Around 3.30 a.m., P. Naveen Kumar (32) – a resident of weaver's colony on Bannerghatta road who works as a sari salesman in the city – was heading home after attending a Ganesh Chathurti procession. During his journey, an unknown vehicle collided with his bike, and he fell on the road, said the Wilson Garden Traffic Police.

It was only around 15 minutes later that passers-by found him in a pool of blood in the middle of the street and rushed him to the nearby NIMHANS hospital, where he was officially declared dead.

For the traffic police, however, tracing the vehicle behind the hit-and-run has hit a dead-end. While the bars and shops of the area which have CCTV cameras had their shutters down, the only CCTV camera operated in the open was found to be non-functional.
