July 24, 2010 04:45 pm | Updated 04:45 pm IST - Bangalore:

While the Government will not spare encroachers, citizens must also raise their voice against encroachment of tank bunds, lakes and drains, Transport Minister R. Ashok said, speaking on the sidelines at the inauguration of the Rs.66-lakh bridge between Shamanna Garden and Hosa Guddadahalli in Bapujinagar ward here on Friday.

Lakes are the lifeline of the city and stringent action would be initiated against those who encroach lakebeds.

The Government was planning to name the recently inaugurated bus station at Kengeri after Kengal Hanumanthaiya.

Mayor S.K. Nataraj said the coming budget would allot equal grants to the 198 wards in the city.
