The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Wednesday filed an application before the Karnataka High Court seeking “adequate police protection” to evict people from the site at Ejipura where 1,512 quarters for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) will have to be constructed.

Application filed

An application in this regard was filed by BBMP counsel before a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B.V. Nagarathna, pointing out that there was opposition to the eviction. Counsel pointed out that the court had set October 8 as deadline for the eviction to make the site available for Maverick Holdings and Investment Pvt. Ltd., which has been awarded the contract.

Hearing

When counsel sought early hearing on the application so that the site could be cleared with the help of adequate police force, the Bench said it would hear the plea when the court reopens after the Dasara holidays.
