BBMP announces compensation to children who lost vision

Mayor S.K. Nataraj on Monday visited Minto Eye Hospital and announced Rs. 50,000 as compensation to three children who lost their vision.

He was accompanied by Deputy Mayor N. Dayanand and Ruling Party Leader B.S. Sathyanarayana.

He spoke to the victims' families and promised the compensation, sources said.

Over the last three days, around 40 people with eye injuries caused by firecrackers have been admitted to the hospital. Mr. Nataraj also said that compensation to those who have lost partial vision would be announced soon.

All the children belong to the lower socio-economic groups, the sources added.
