The police have arrested nine persons who barged into the Karachi Bakery outlet at Indiranagar on Friday evening and questioned the staff for working under the brand name ‘Karachi’, the economic capital of Pakistan.

The arrested have been identified as Babaji, Srihari, Praveen, Sreeyappa, Shivakumar, Gunashekar, Lakshman, Sanjay and Naveen, all aged between 30 and 35. The accused were identified as residents of Halasuru and surrounding areas, and are friends, the police said.

They were identified through the CCTV footage from the bakery and were picked up on Saturday.

While one of them works in a printing press and another in a hotel, all of them claimed that they are social workers. The police told them that they cannot involve in such moral policing and take the law into their hands. They were taken to the police station.

The police are questioning them to find out if others were involved.

These men, on Friday, had barged into the bakery and questioned why the bakery had the name ‘Karachi’, the economic capital of Pakistan. They did not damage bakery property, but demanded to know the name of the owner.
