448 athletes for National Games

Ahead of the 35th National Games 2015 scheduled to begin this week, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday announced cash prizes for players who bag medals at the championship.

Speaking at the ceremony organised to hand over kits to the players, Mr. Siddaramaiah said, “Gold medallists will get Rs. 5 lakh, silver medallists Rs. 3 lakh and bronze medallists Rs. 2 lakh.”

After months of rigorous practice, 448 athletes and players from Karnataka will participate in 25 sports at the Games in Kerala.

N. Nagambika Devi, Principal Secretary, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, urged players to stay away from drugs and follow the principles of “honesty and integrity”.
