₹260-crore revival of TG Halli lake set to begin

Tippagondanahalli lake, once the source of piped water for the city, my come back to life nearly a decade after pumping was stopped as the water was deemed unfit for human consumption.

On Wednesday, a ₹260-crore project to rejuvenate and revive the reservoir was launched by Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara.

Works include setting up of a 20 million litre per day Sewage Treatment Plant, revival of the pumping network, dredging and cleaning the reservoir where years of sewage let off into the Arkavathy river has accumulated. A 110 MLD plant to treat stored water will also be built.

The project is expected to be completed by 2021 after which the reservoir and the upstream Hessarghatta reservoir will start receiving nearly 2.5 TMC of water from the Yettinahole river diversion project, said Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) officials.
