June 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

The State government is planning to mobilise around 15,000 students to participate in the State government’s International Yoga Day celebrations at Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday.

Yoga guru Vachanananda Swami will preside over the programme that will be attended by students of high school, degree and pre-university colleges.

Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor B. Thimme Gowda has been appointed by the Higher Education Council to oversee the participation of students in the programme. He said that they plan to rope in the Department of Public Instruction, Department of Higher Education and the Department of Technical Education to ensure that students and staff members participate in the programme. As varsity students have vacations now, they may not be able to participate in the celebrations.

Before the programme, a rally will be taken out from Cubbon Park to Sree Kanteerava Stadium.
