An 11-year-old girl died reportedly while attempting to enact a scene from a television serial on Monday night.

The class 5 girl, who lives with her parents at Mallasandra in Bagalagunte, was last seen watching the serial around 8 p.m. on Monday. Her father Range Gowda was at his roadside eatery near their house, while her mother had taken her younger brother to a shop where she worked, said the police.

Around 9.30 p.m., the couple returned home and found the girl’s body.

The police said there was little chance of foul play as the neighbours in their densely packed area did not see anyone walking into the house. The police suspect that she was attempting to enact a suicide scene she had seen on television.

The doctors, who conducted post-mortem, said it was suicide, but the police believe it may not be on purpose.

The police have taken up a case and are waiting to question the parents.
