YSRCP demands probe into land issue

It accuses administration of de-notifying land to favour realtors

YSR Congress Party has accused the district administration of trying to give away huge chunk of land in Madhurawada region to benefit realtors.

Addressing media persons here on Friday, official spokesperson of the party P. Murthy Yadav said about 45.59 acres in Madhurawada and Peddipalem in Anandapuram mandal of Visakhapatnam district was taken over by the government (district administration) in 1978 under the Urban Land Ceiling Act.

And since then a case was pending in the RDO Court, he said.

In the 45.59 acres, 9.18 acres of land in Madhurawada was under survey no. 329.

According to Mr. Murthy Yadav, Joint Collector of Visakhapatnam G. Srijana on October 1, 2017 had asked the RDO to take appropriate action on the pending case by October 6.

“Basing on the order, the RDO has given an NOC on October 5, with the rider that an appeal can be filed within 30 days. But the government did not file an appeal,” he alleged.

‘Prime land’

On December 4, 2017, based on the RDO’s order, a notice for de-notification was served.

“The 9.18 acres in Madhurawada is a prime land and the price of one acre is around ₹ 20 crore. How can such a prime government land be de-notified by the government,” alleged Mr. Yadav.

Subsequently in January 2018, the Joint Collector had filed an appeal in the court and it is still to be admitted, said B. Siva Ramakrishna, YSRCP SC Cell President.

Despite, an appeal being filed and which is still in the admission stage, the Collector has ordered for de-notification of another 19.66 acres from the 45.59 acres and this is sending wrong signals, said Mr. Murthy Yadav.

“We demand a judicial probe into the issue, as it appears to favour some realtors,” said Mr. Murthy Yadav.
