Welder dies in explosion at Auto Nagar

Incident occurred when he was working on top of an oil tanker

A 53-year-old welder died in an explosion while working on an oil tanker at Auto Nagar area under Gajuwaka police station limits here on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as S. Nageswara Rao, a native of Rajamahendravaram and resident of Auto Nagar.

According to Gajuwaka Inspector Mr Apparao, Nageswara Rao was a watchman and also used to work as welder.

On Tuesday morning, while he was working on top of an oil tanker, fire sparks came in contact with left over fuel in the tanker, which resulted in the explosion. Due to the impact of the explosion, he was thrown towards the overhead High Tension (HT) electric wires and after coming into contact with the wires, he died on the spot. Nageswara Rao is survived by his wife and two children.

Body has been sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
