‘Water tariff hike only for bulk users’

June 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation proposes to enhance its bulk water supply charges only and not semi-bulk charges (of apartments) and other domestic consumers, GVMC Commissioner Pravin Kumar has said.

Reacting to news reports of GVMC proposing to hike charges for semi-bulk users and domestic users also and protests on the issue from various quarters, the civic body issued a statement clarifying that there was no such proposal.

The GVMC convened a meeting with all bulk users to obtain their opinion on the proposed hike of bulk water supply charges to make the GVMC self-sustainable in water supply sector as the expenditure was exceeding the revenue.
