February 22, 2012 03:03 pm | Updated 03:03 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The report of VUDA on the controversial construction of an apartment complex in Survey No.5/p and 26/p of Sector 2 of MVP Colony is being finalised.

VUDA Vice-Chairman Kona Sasidhar has ordered an in-depth inquiry into the construction of the apartment complex on the site meant for open space and meant for public purpose. It is learnt that the VUDA Estate Officer has been asked to inquire into the entire issue.

“The report will be finalised soon and sent to the Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development,” Mr. Sasidhar told The Hindu on Tuesday. The Vice-Chairman also asked the GVMC to cancel the building plan approval, stop service connections and keep all permission in abeyance. The Town Planning Department has prepared a show-cause notice under Section 450 of the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act on why the permissions given should not be cancelled.
