VUDA promises more to children

The nine-day grand celebrations of VUDA Children's Day concluded on Monday bringing to an end a host of competitions in which students participated enthusiastically.

The valedictory event was conducted at Gurajada Kalakshetram on Monday marking Children's Day with a large number of children, parents and teachers participating.

The grand magic show presented by Ravi Shankar entertained the audience with tricks like ‘Zig zag lady,' illusions and other items.

Mimicry artiste K.V. Sivaramakrishna's performance and cultural programmes by members of VUDA Children Club provided a variety fare.

VUDA Vice-Chairman Kona Sasidhar gave away prizes to 770 winners in the competitions conducted for nine days starting November 6.

Addressing the children and parents on the occasion, he said VUDA would provide more amenities for children at the tourist destinations managed by it.

Establishment of a planetarium by VUDA was under consideration and Kailasagiri and VUDA Park would be developed further as knowledge centres on non-conventional energy, he said.

The proposal of extending medical services to the children through the VUDA Children Club, in association with reputed medical institutions, was also under consideration.

The VUDA Children Theatre premises would be rebuilt as VUDA Children Arena with a new design, Mr. Sasidhar said.

VUDA Secretary MS Bhagavan, Chief Engineer I Viswanadha Rao, Chief Accounts Officer D Vijaya Bharathi, Chief Urban Planner RJ Vidyullatha, Estate Officer M Venkateswara Rao, DFO BVA Krishna Murthy and others participated.
