Vizag Steel executive found murdered in Bhubaneswar

He was identified as I Surya Prasad Rao, Assistant General Manager (Finance) at the public sector Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

A top executive of the public sector Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

The Commissionerate Police retrieved the body, identified as that of I Surya Prasad Rao, Assistant General Manager (Finance) at VSP, near a dump yard. He was hit on the head with a a hard object and later dumped at the spot, police said.

The locals had spotted Mr. Rao's body in front of the Hanuman Temple, near VSS Nagar area of the city.  The body was sent to the Capital Hospital where autopsy was conducted.

“The body was found under mysterious circumstances with grievous injury marks on the back of his head. It seems like a case of murder. His family members have been informed,” said Dillip Kumar Das, Assistant Commissioner of Police.

Sources said the VSP executive was associated with real estate business. Professional rivalry was suspected to be the reason behind the murder.

His elder son, I Umashankar Rao, reached Bhubaneswar in the afternoon. “I have no idea as to why he was killed. He had come to Bhubaneswar in connection with marriage of my younger brother.”

“He stayed in the house of one Koteswar Rao whom I don’t know,” said the son. City police is now on the look out for Koteswar Rao to unravel the case.

Besides, th younger son of the deceased, who is expected to reach Bhubaneswar in the evening, may give more clues to investigating officers.
