A passionate patriotic song brought out by a team of musicians from the city has been generating quite a buzz online. Composed by Vijay Bharadwaj, the song titled ‘Insaan Sahi…Vande Mataram’ was released on Independence Day on YouTube.

The five-minute song is strung together with powerful lyrics and strong music composition on the theme of unity and a message to the public to stop fighting in the name of religion. “This is our version of Vande Mataram with a heartfelt message for the 71st Independence Day,” said Mr. Bharadwaj, a third year student of B.Tech of GITAM University. The recording and mixing of the five-minute video was done by Himagiri K who owns the Himagiri Studios. The lead guitarist is Mohammed Pervez, a known name in the city’s music circuit; the cinematography was done by Rahul Katikala and editing by Raviteja Kurmana.

The music was composed by Bharadwaj during his internship days in Chennai where his friend Koshlendra Singh penned the lyrics suiting the patriotic theme. “My initial idea was to record the song with videos of freedom struggle. But that would have been any other regular video. After I approached Mr. Pervez with the song and the concept, he gave some great constructive feedback which improved the overall music and later helped me collaborate with the best of the names in the music scene of Vizag,” said Mr. Bharadwaj, who started developing a keen interest in music from an early age which led him to participate and excel at State-level music competitions in the keyboard. Later, he took training in Carnatic classical music and now wants to pursue a full-fledged career in music.

“I am looking at music colleges abroad where I can hone my skills to pursue my career in music,” he added. The young musician has also played at city concerts. In recent times, talented musicians have used the YouTube platform well to make their fabulous work known. Several artistes from Visakhapatnam got their moment in the sun and many musical careers are flourishing high as a result of this. The initial response to the video of ‘Insaan Sahi…’ has given a boost to the team. “We had a little time of around a month to get the song recorded as our aim was to release it by Independence Day. We are happy that it is getting positive response from people,” said Mr. Bharadwaj.
