Visteel Mahila Samiti, Ukkunagaram, on Thursday donated a wet grinder, freezers and washing machines to the GVMC night shelter at TSR Complex.

Former Union Energy Secretary EAS Sarma wanted GVMC to develop night shelters by mobilising CSR funds. Lauding the gesture, he said help by such organisations would help the shelter-less.

Samiti president Bindu Mahapatra, vice-president Saroja, secretary Mittu Chakravarthi and treasurer Manjula handed over goods to the home. Zone Commissioner Chakradhar said K V D Prasad and Rajeswara Rao took the initiative to help the shelter through the samiti. Pragada Vasu, secretary of AUTD that runs the home, participated. A team from Mizoram visited the shelter on Thursday and complimented its functioning.
