Annual festival Visakha Utsav 2018 continues to enthral Vizagites, on its second day, here in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. Additional attractions like heli-tourism rides, kite festival, which have been added to the list of programmes, entertained the crowd.

Entire Beach Road stretch wore a festive look from the evening. Being weekend, a large number of families thronged RK Beach, where the main venue of Visakha Utsav has been set up. Classical dance by Kuchipudi Kala Kendra, folklore by Jaathara were crowd pullers. Crowd went gaga over the performance of “The Local Train Band”, which also stood as major attraction, for the day.

“We really enjoyed Local Train band as they were really euphoric. We kept on taping our feet and entertained. The flower show was extremely good and is the best place to take selfies. This year Visakha utsav has been really special. I was hanging out with couple of my friends throughout the day,” said Prasanna Kumari, a student from St Joseph College Vizag.

The VMRDA officials as well as Tourism Department started the helitourism project at Rushikonda, keeping in view Visakha Utsav and Sankranthi festival. A kite festival was organised nearby the submarine museum, where kites of various types were flew by children. However hot air balloon ride, which was supposed to be conducted near RK Beach did not take off due to bad weather.

Shilparamam Jaathara, another venue of the Visakha Utsav, also engaged public with folk dances.
