Ushering in the Utsav spirit

January 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The rich folk form of Tappeta Gullu came alive as a group of artistes regaled the audience swaying to the rhythm of heart-pounding drum beat.

Ushering in the festive spirit with a bunch of cultural programmes, VUDA organised a curtain-raiser cultural event of Visakha Utsav at Gurajada Kalakshetram on Wednesday. With just two weeks away for the carnival, the event treated the audience to some fine music and dance performances. Bringing back the melodies of Ghantasala, local signer T. Govind entertained the audience with a few tracks of the legendary singer. The lifestyle of fishing community was well depicted by a group of 10 artistes from Tagarapuvalasa through Jalari Nrityam . This apart, a classical dance with Mahishasuramardini as theme and doll dance, Lilliput dance, western dance, Kathak, and Panchamukha Anjaneya ballet were part of the cultural treat.
