March 11, 2012 01:39 pm | Updated 01:39 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Minister for Infrastructure, Investments and Ports Ganta Srinivasa Rao has called for coordination between the district administration and various organisations for the forthcoming Ugadi celebrations.

The Minister held a review meeting with district Collector Lav Agarwal, Joint Collector M. Girija Sankar, Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivas, secretary of the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce M.V. Narayana Rao, Air Travellers Association of India president D. Varada Reddy and Visakhpatnam Air Travellers Association president Ch. Ramakotaiah on Saturday and discussed with them on the arrangements for Ugadi, Visakha Tourism Festival and Visakha Utsav.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the Ugadi celebrations to be held on March 23 should reflect Telugu culture and traditions. He suggested that instead of organising functions separately the district administration and various organisations should conduct them at one place. He felt that the Visakha tourism festival to be held from March 23 to 25 could be organised on the lines of the world famous Dubai festival.

Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivas commended the Minister for convening a meeting with officials from the district, Indian Navy, Airport, Immigration and Customs and resolving the problems which had arisen regarding setting up of the Immigration wing which was essential for the launch of the Visakhapatnam – Dubai flight on March 25.

District Collector Lav Agarwal and Gajuwaka MLA Chintalapudi Venkataramayya participated.
