Two held on assault charge

The city police on Monday arrested two persons on the charge of assaulting a doctor and professor at a private medical college at Jodugullapalem area in the city on June 7.

The arrested were identified as E. Anil Kumar and B. Govind, both residents of Hanumanthawaka area in the city.

Inspector of Arilova zonal police station Ch. Dhanunjaya Naidu said that Anil and Govind assaulted Prof. Prakash, a professor in a private medical college in Vizianagaram and a resident of Seethammadhara area of the city, while he was buying something at a shop near Jodugullapalem beach at about 8.30 pm on June 7, on his way home from the college. Later, they decamped with his wallet. Prakash received serious injuries on his face and other parts of body.

According to the police, Anil and Govind were addicted to vices. The police arrested them near Mudsarlova Park. They were sent to judicial remand.
