Ganja trade in Visakhapatnam district rose to a new high with two traders found murdered at L.N. Peta in Ravikamatham mandal late on Tuesday night.
They were identified as A. Krishna (32) and K. Ramana (26), both residents of Gorlepalem under Butchaiahpeta mandal of the district.
According to Kothakota Police Station Inspector H. Malleswara Rao, the two traders were initially friends and involved in ganja trade. However, both fell apart over a trade-related dispute some time ago.
Krishna developed a grudge against Ramana and had once beaten him up. Unable to put up with the harassment, Ramana had lodged a complaint against Krishna with the Butchaiahpeta police a few weeks ago. Later, they struck a compromise.
However, the truce did not last long.
On information that Ramana was travelling by an auto-rickshaw on Tuesday night, Krishna intercepted the vehicle and dragged Ramana out of it. After a heated argument, Krishna allegedly stabbed Ramana twice with a sharp weapon. Ramana tried to run away but was chased by Krishna and stabbed again. The autorickshaw driver who had tried to come to the rescue of Ramana too fled.
But what baffles the police is that even Krishna was found dead close to Ramana’s body. According to Mr. Malleswara Rao, it is unclear as to who killed Krishna.
Investigation is on.
