The lush green valleys of Kambalakonda Eco Tourism Park woke up to the buzz of more than 20 trekkers on Sunday morning who made their way through the three-km trek route to study nature and enjoy the pristine air of the Eastern Ghats. Organised by India Youth For Society (IYFS), the trek saw participants of all age groups taking part in the activity with enthusiasm. A 10-minute drive from the city, Kambalakonda, is a trekker’s paradise.
However, post Cyclone Hudhud, the place suffered extensive damage. Members of IYFS organised the trek to assess the current situation of the park and plan to submit a report to the Forest Department to improve the facilities.
“We will be sending a report for resuming activities like boat riding and river crossing to draw children and also enforcing safety measures for visitors,” said Palakonda Madhu, president, India Youth For Society.
To popularise the park as a trekking spot, IYFS is working on a video clip of Kambalakonda that will showcase the beauty of the place.
“Even though the park is located so close to the city, not many are aware of the richness of the forest cover and its excellent scope for trekking. We want to highlight the potential of the spot so that many others can come and enjoy nature,” he added.
