The movement of passenger and goods trains on the Kottavalasa–Kirandul line under the Waltair division of East Coast Railway has been paralysed due to falling of boulders from the hill slopes onto the track near Anantagiri following incessant rain in the district on Friday evening. Huge boulders fell on a bridge, damaging one of its piers, near Anantagiri. The railway track passes through the hills and tunnels and it is a Herculean task for the cranes and other equipment to reach the spot, where the incident occurred. Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur rushed to the spot along with senior officials to take stock of the situation.

The restoration could take at least a month, according to preliminary information reaching here.
