Traffic hit as goods train derails near Araku

A goods train derailed between Darlaputtu and Gorapur near Araku late on Tuesday night disrupting the traffic on the Kothavalasa-Kirandol route. The East Coast Railway (ECoR) authorities have already started restoration work and it is likely to take four to five days for restoring normalcy.

The loaded goods train was coming from Koraput when 16 wagons derailed inside a tunnel around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to ECoR officials. There were no casualties.

Kirandol Passenger scheduled to leave Visakhapatnam on Wednesday morning has been cancelled affecting the tourist traffic heading to Araku Valley.
