Sri Ramanavami was celebrated with enthusiasm and devotion at several temples in the city and district on Tuesday. Sri Sitarama Kalyanam was celebrated and thousands of devotees thronged the temples since the morning.
Vadapappu and Paanakam were offered as prasadam at the temples. After the Kalyanostavam, lunch was arranged for the devotees at many places.
Preparations for the festival commenced a couple of days ago and on Tuesday morning every Sri Rama temple and other temples like Sivalayams and Shirdi Sai Baba temples were decorated with green mango leaves, flowers and lights.
At the Sri Sitarama temple at Ambica Bagh, which is adopted by the Sri Kanakamahalakshmi temple, a large number of devotes witnessed the Sri Sitarama Kalyanam, which was held as per the schedule of the Sri Sitaramachandramurthy temple at Bhadrachalam.
Devotees throng the old temple of Sri Rama in the old city area, at Burujupeta near Sri Kanakamahalakshmi temple.
Celebrations were also held at the Sri Prananna Panduranga Swamy temple, Rama Mandiram at Ram Nagar, Sri Sitaramalayama at Simhapuri, Sri Ram temple at Venkateswara Metta, Krishna Chaitanya Matham, temples in industrial area and city suburbs. Politicians also visited temples and sought blessings of the Lord. Former Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, along with TD leaders Lalam Bhaskara Rao and Somanath; MLA Malla Vijaya Prasad along with YSRC leader Dadi Ratnakar visited temples.
Cultural programmes were held in the evening at several places. The Hare Krishna Movement, organised Rama Taraka Yagna to mark the appearance day of Lord Rama.
