The RSS is resorting to attacks on Dalit adivasis in the name of one nation, one faith, one temple and one culture, alleged Kancha Ilaiah, professor of Osmania University, and V. Srinivasa Rao, convener of Dalita Soshana Mukti Manch convener, said and called for an end to such attacks.
A seminar on ‘Dalita, Adivasi, Samata Jaatara’ was organised jointly by the Kula Vivaksha Porata Samithi (KVPS) and AP Girijan Sangam, at the Convocation Hall of Andhra University here on Saturday.
They said there were various religions, languages, diverse cultures, temples, churches and mosques. It was unfortunate that since Hindus formed a majority, the nation should be known as Hindu desa and that the diktat of the RSS was binding on the people.
The lands belonging to Dalits and adivasis were being grabbed by landlords and the governments were not taking any action to protect the poor.
The Dalit adivasis were not having proper education and were living in abject poverty. Those who were managing to study were unable to find jobs.
Prof. Ilaiah said only Dalits and Communists have the power to oppose the communal forces.
He said ‘T-Mass’ was floated in Telangana, to fight for the rights of Dalits, with the involvement of Dalits, those leading people’s movements, progressive thinkers and Communists and opined that a similar organisation could be floated in Andhra Pradesh.
Former Vice-Chancellor of Dravidian University K.S. Chalam presided over the function.
