Security beefed up at airport

October 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Security at Visakhapatnam Airport and at all major installations in the city has been beefed up following receipt of a signed letter with full address of the writer, threatening to target Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, besides blowing up vital installations.

According to Police Commissioner Amit Garg, the airport authorities here had received the threat letter on October 8. It was written in Telugu and purportedly originated from the Nirmal area of Adilabad district in Telangana. It was sent via post and was reportedly written by Narayan Singh, who claimed to have ISIS connection, said ADCP (Special Branch) P.V. Ravi Kumar.

Though it was only a threat letter, security agencies are taking no chances and have increased the security at the airport and at all vital installations in the city by deploying additional armed forces.
